GTA 6 comes in two editions: the Standard Edition and the Ultimate Edition. The game is the same in both. The difference pays for a bundle of vehicles, weapons, outfits, businesses and an extra mission.

Short answer: if you just want to play the story, the Standard Edition is enough. The Ultimate content can be bought later as an upgrade.

US prices come from the American press; Brazilian prices are read straight from the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store in Brazil, where the upgrade costs R$ 100. Retailers may sell the boxed code for less, so it pays to compare.

What's in the Ultimate Edition

The Ultimate Edition Upgrade bundles items you would otherwise earn or buy with in-game money in story mode:

  • Cars: '95 Grotti Cheetah and '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy, plus the Ganado Retro Build pickup.
  • Other vehicles: Dinka Enduro motorcycle, Crest kayak and the Shitzu Squalo boat.
  • Weapons: the Hawk & Little Morgan revolvers and custom versions of Jason's (Girardi ES9) and Lucia's (Klose K17) pistols.
  • Outfits and tattoos: Vice City Style, Goodtime Gear and the Electric Fang studio, with 50+ tattoos by the FAILE collective.
  • Businesses: Rideout Customs, Sara's Unisex Salon, Stock 305 and One-Eyed Willie's.
  • Extra content: the PTT Youngin$ mission and the Classic Car Collection commission from collector Wyman.

Can I start with Standard and upgrade later?

Yes. The Ultimate Edition Upgrade is sold separately and can be bought at any time, including by people who bought the boxed version. You lose nothing by waiting to decide with the game in hand.

What about a physical copy?

There's no GTA 6 disc at launch. The retail version is a download code inside the box, in stores from November 12, and only for the Standard Edition: the Ultimate is digital only. Box buyers redeem the code and can add the upgrade through the console store.

The pre-order bonus is the same for both

The Vintage Vice City Pack comes with every pre-order and purchase made by November 20, 2026, in both editions: a '55 Vapid Stanier sedan with a garage in Ocean Beach, retro outfits and hairstyles for Jason and Lucia, and an exclusive weapon pattern. The free month of GTA+ is for digital pre-orders only, also until November 20.

So which one?

  • Just want the story: Standard.
  • Want to start with a full garage, custom weapons and four businesses: Ultimate.
  • Want a box on the shelf: Standard as a code in a box, then the upgrade if you like.
  • Still unsure: Standard now, upgrade whenever you want.

More details, pictures of each item and the pre-order bonus are on Editions and prices. Questions about PC, languages and size are in the FAQ.
